ViTrox Optimus 3D AOI Machine for SMT
ViTrox V510Ai Optimus 3D
The ViTrox V510Ai Optimus 3D is an inline automated optical inspection system for SMT PCB assembly. It combines optical imaging with three-dimensional measurement to evaluate visible component placement and soldering quality.
Smart 3D Optical Inspection System
For manufacturers introducing frequent board revisions or managing multiple products, inspection setup is part of the production workload. ViTrox’s AI programming, recipe validation and fine-tuning tools support engineers through that workflow, from creating an inspection program to reviewing its performance during production.
Key Features OMRON 3D SPI – SMT automated optical inspection
3D Measurement and Multi-Directional Projection
Phase Shift Profilometry (PSP) reconstructs surface height using projected light patterns. Illumination from several directions helps reduce occlusion. This measurement approach provides useful information for checks such as lifted leads and package coplanarity.
Inspection Coverage
The published inspection functions include missing, displaced, skewed, reversed and incorrectly oriented components; tombstoning and billboard defects; lifted or bent leads; solder bridges and solder quantity defects; marking verification; package coplanarity; foreign material; and polarity-dimple measurement. Through-hole pin and solderability checks depend on optical access.

AI Programming Support
The platform offers AI-assisted recipe creation and component recognition. ViTrox also describes CAD-less programming within its AOI software suite, supporting setup when CAD data is unavailable. Software scope should be selected with the supplied configuration.
AI Recipe QC
Recipe validation checks whether inspection settings leave gaps in coverage. ViTrox’s AI Recipe QC uses simulated defects to challenge inspection thresholds, helping engineers identify weaknesses before relying on a program in production.
AI Fine Tuning
ViTrox describes a workflow that learns from inspection review results and proposes or applies recipe improvements. This gives process teams a way to refine inspection settings as production evidence accumulates.
AI-Assisted Defect Review
AI AOI inspection VVTS supports the review of AOI calls. Its role is to assist classification and reduce repetitive review work; the site’s performance percentages should not be treated as a guaranteed detection rate for every assembly.
Centralized Recipe Management
V-Library supports recipe sharing across systems. V-Tune supports program adjustment during production, while Intelligent Control Tower provides a centralized environment for remote fine-tuning.
Integration with Production Data
SMT automated optical inspection describes support for Hermes communication and closed-loop communication with compatible placement machines. Integration scope, machine compatibility and software availability should be agreed for the intended line.
Why Choose the ViTrox V510Ai Optimus 3D?
For a manufacturer that needs both 3D inspection and a structured way to maintain inspection programs, this system brings measurement, recipe validation and review tools into one production workflow. Configuration selection should start with panel dimensions, defect coverage and the inspection cycle time required by the line.

Applications for Vitrox 3D AOI
- SMT assembly lines inspecting visible component placement and solder joints.
- Electronics manufacturing services introducing multiple board designs.
- High-mix production where inspection-program preparation is a recurring task.
- Production teams requiring centralized inspection-recipe management.
Suitability should be demonstrated using representative boards and the required defect criteria. Optical inspection does not establish the quality of fully hidden solder joints; those require a suitable complementary inspection method.
Production Advantages ViTrox Optimus 3D AOI
- Less repetitive setup work through AI-assisted programming.
- Better visibility of recipe coverage through validation tools.
- More consistent program maintenance through shared recipes and controlled fine-tuning.
- A clearer basis for process investigation using height and placement measurements.
